Use case: f(x) calculations
Engineering calculations on plant tags, without code
f(x) in Aditum Data builds engineering calculations on any tag or chart. Click blocks together or type a formula: both views always show the same formula, and every step is checked with unit algebra.
Facts checked
Which calculations are ready to use?
Nine templates fill themselves from the selected equipment's instruments and datasheets.
Temperature difference, approach, LMTD, heat-transfer coefficient U, duty, efficiency, specific energy per tonne, OEE and mass balance.
What else is in the library?
Water and steam properties, statistics, rolling functions, rates, integrals, FFT, balances, fouling, control-loop health, SPC rules, soft sensors and time-to-limit forecasts.
- Water and steam properties follow IAPWS-IF97.
- SPC charts use the Western Electric and Nelson rules, with Cp and Cpk.
- Calculations can carry an accuracy, for example "63.6 ± 1.0 °C (95 %)", and name the input that contributes most.
How are units handled?
Every step is checked with unit algebra; mixing units that don't fit is refused with a suggested fix.
Absolute temperatures and temperature differences are told apart, so a °C difference is never added to a °C reading by mistake.
Can a calculation become a tag?
Yes. A calculation can be saved as a tag that is written to the Aditum database every 5 to 1,440 minutes and appears as a dataset.
Limits on values are judged by the server and shown with the same badge everywhere. A datasheet or AI-suggested limit shows as "not confirmed" until an editor approves it.
Questions
Does AI calculate the numbers?
No. The engine calculates every number. The AI may propose a formula; the same engine checks it, and a person approves it.
Are averages correct for deadbanded tags?
Yes. Averages are time-weighted, so deadbanded or report-by-exception tags give correct numbers.
