Use case: energy and emissions

Energy per tonne from your historian tags, without code

Aditum Data calculates energy KPIs such as specific energy per tonne and energy per batch from the tags you already collect, with unit checks on every step and the same definition at every site.

Facts checked

Which energy KPIs can we calculate?

Specific energy per tonne, energy per batch, heat duty, efficiency and mass and energy balances are ready-made templates.

  • The specific energy per tonne template fills itself from the selected equipment's instruments and datasheets.
  • Batch comparison shows energy per batch and per tonne (kWh per tonne), and a golden-batch comparison is available on dashboards.
  • Water and steam properties follow IAPWS-IF97, so steam energy is calculated from pressure and temperature, not looked up by hand.
  • Money units (EUR, USD, NOK and others) can be used in calculations, for example energy cost per tonne.

Do the heat and material balances close?

An automatic heat and material balance table is built from datasheets and measured values, and closure outside tolerance is flagged.

The tolerance is 2 % for mass and 5 % for energy. A missing number is never estimated: it is shown as missing.

What about emissions?

Aditum Data does not ship a dedicated emissions calculator today. Teams calculate the energy KPI and apply their own emission factor in a formula.

Because the formula is a versioned definition with an owner, the factor you use is visible and the same at every site.

Questions

Does the AI calculate our energy numbers?

No. The calculation engine calculates every number. The AI may propose a formula, the same engine checks it, and a person approves it.
