# Aditum Data vs HighByte Intelligence Hub

HighByte Intelligence Hub is self-hosted Industrial DataOps software: you install it at the edge or in your data centre and model, route and govern data between systems, often as a unified namespace. Aditum Data is a managed service that covers the plant-to-platform path and adds calculations, data health incidents and dashboards in one place.

## Aditum Data and HighByte Intelligence Hub at a glance

HighByte models and routes data on your own hardware; Aditum Data is managed and goes on to calculations, incidents and dashboards.

**Aditum Data and HighByte Intelligence Hub side by side**

| | Aditum Data | HighByte Intelligence Hub |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What it is | Industrial data pipelines and dashboards as a managed service: connect plant and business sources, prepare the data without code, deliver it to your platform or to live dashboards. | "An Industrial DataOps software solution designed specifically for industrial data modeling, orchestration, and governance." ([HighByte](https://www.highbyte.com/intelligence-hub)) |
| Where it runs | Managed by Aditum Data in Frankfurt (EU); a small read-only edge connector at each site (Windows or Linux), outbound HTTPS on port 443 only. | Self-hosted at the edge, on premises or in the cloud (bare metal, VMs, containers); also on the Siemens Industrial Edge Marketplace. ([HighByte](https://www.highbyte.com/intelligence-hub), [news](https://www.digitalengineering247.com/article/siemens-highbyte-partner-on-industrial-data-operations/news)) |
| Plant connectivity | Edge connector for OPC UA, MQTT (Sparkplug B) and Modbus TCP; AVEVA PI (PI Web API) and GE Proficy; SQL databases, InfluxDB, warehouses, data lakes, Kafka, SAP OData and REST. See [connectors](https://aditumdata.com/connectors). | Dozens of connection types, including OPC UA, Modbus TCP, MQTT, Sparkplug, PI System, Aspen InfoPlus.21, SQL databases, Snowflake, Databricks and REST. ([HighByte](https://www.highbyte.com/intelligence-hub/connections)) |
| Historian | Not a historian. Reads your historian, or stores prepared data in the Aditum database (hosted PostgreSQL with TimescaleDB) or your own destination. | Not a historian; connects to historians and databases. |
| Asset model and context | A reviewed plant graph per organisation: naming rules (ISA-5.1, KKS), OPC UA folders and MQTT topics become site, unit and equipment; P&IDs and 3D models link to time series after a person approves. | Reusable data models of machines, products and processes, with a "script-free" interface. ([HighByte](https://www.highbyte.com/intelligence-hub)) |
| Calculations | f(x): no-code engineering calculations with unit checks on every step, nine equipment templates (LMTD, duty, OEE, specific energy and more), time-weighted averages. | Transformations and "virtual property" values; pipeline aggregates such as average, min, max, count and delta; JavaScript functions. ([HighByte](https://www.highbyte.com/intelligence-hub)) |
| Data health and alerts | Incidents without setting up rules: failed runs, stale sources, stuck or silent tags, missed schedules, data received but not stored, offline connectors; email, Teams, Slack, webhooks, PagerDuty, Opsgenie. | "Alarm on bad quality or stale data"; pipeline state is monitored in the hub. ([HighByte](https://www.highbyte.com/intelligence-hub)) |
| Dashboards | Live dashboards, including from a plain-language request that a person approves; every number traces to its source tags. | No dashboard product found on its pages; it feeds other tools. |
| AI | AI drafts pipelines, dashboards and formulas for approval; the platform calculates every number. Metadata only by default; an organisation can switch AI off. | LLM-assisted modelling and MCP services for agent workflows. ([HighByte](https://www.highbyte.com/intelligence-hub), [pricing](https://www.highbyte.com/pricing)) |
| How it is sold | Per organisation, never per seat: a free self-serve start, a pilot, then a site subscription. Prices on request. | Annual subscription; every licence includes unlimited models and pipelines; published price list. ([HighByte](https://www.highbyte.com/pricing)) |

## Where HighByte Intelligence Hub is the better choice

HighByte Intelligence Hub is ahead of Aditum Data in these areas today.

- **Modelling and unified namespace.** Reusable models, an embedded MQTT broker with JSON and Sparkplug payloads, and a namespace client are core to the product ([HighByte](https://www.highbyte.com/intelligence-hub)).
- **Broader connection catalogue**, including Aspen InfoPlus.21, Microsoft OneLake and AWS IoT SiteWise ([HighByte](https://www.highbyte.com/intelligence-hub/connections)).
- **Runs fully on your own hardware**, at the edge or in your data centre. Aditum Data is a managed service in Frankfurt.
- **Public pricing** with all features included ([HighByte](https://www.highbyte.com/pricing)).

## Where Aditum Data is different

What Aditum Data adds for teams that need the same, trustworthy number from every site.

- **Nothing to host.** Aditum Data is managed; at the site you install only a small read-only edge connector with outbound HTTPS.
- **Calculations for engineers.** f(x) has unit checks on every step and templates such as LMTD, heat duty, OEE and specific energy per tonne.
- **Data health as incidents,** grouped by root cause and sent to email, Teams, Slack, PagerDuty or Opsgenie.
- **Dashboards included,** including from a plain-language request, with every number traced to its source tags.
- **P&IDs and 3D models** linked to live tags in a reviewed plant graph.

## Can Aditum Data work with HighByte Intelligence Hub?

Yes. If HighByte publishes a unified namespace on an MQTT broker, Aditum Data's edge connector can subscribe to it (including Sparkplug B), and Aditum Data can publish prepared data back to MQTT.

## Questions

**Is Aditum Data a unified namespace (UNS)?**

It is not a broker. Aditum Data reads from and publishes to MQTT, so it works with the UNS broker you choose.
